Nintendo has issued a warning that phishers are pushing spoofed Nintendo websites with fake Switch discounts to defraud unsuspecting victims.
The Japanese gaming giant is reaching out to customers via Twitter with a warning (Google translated):
[Caution] We have confirmed the existence of a fake website that impersonates Nintendo's homepage. Please be careful not to mistake it for our website, and do not purchase products from fake websites.
【ご注意】この度、任天堂のホームページになりすました偽のウェブサイトの存在を確認しました。お客様には、当社ホームページとお間違えのないようご注意いただくとともに、偽のウェブサイトから商品を購入されないようお願いいたします。

The company directs followers to the official nintendo.co.jp corporate website, where it details the ongoing phishing campaign.
According to the notice, the fake websites mimic the original Nintendo home page and advertise the company’s popular Switch gaming gear at a significant discount.
“Purchasing products on fake sites may result in fraudulent damage such as unauthorized acquisition of personal information,” the warning reads. “Please be careful not to mistake it for our website, and do not purchase products from fake websites.”
Customers are urged to use only the official Nintendo website to do business with the company.
Those who’ve fallen for the scam are told to “contact the nearest police station or the cybercrime consultation desk at the prefectural police headquarters.”
“If we discover a fake site like this one, we will notify the police and related ministries and agencies,” the company adds.
The scams appear to target Japanese speakers.
