How to Switch from Bitdefender Wallet to SecurePass

To begin, you’ll need to export your passwords from Bitdefender Wallet into a CSV (comma-separated values) file. This file will then be imported into SecurePass.

 

1. Open Password Manager in Bitdefender

• Open the Bitdefender app.
• Click on Privacy in the left-hand menu, then select Password Manager.

 

2. Select the Export Wallets Option

• In Password Manager, you’ll see a red banner indicating that Bitdefender Wallet is no longer available. Click the Export Wallets button on this banner.

 

3. Start the Export Tool

• When the welcome screen appears, click Start now to begin the export process.

 

4. Choose the Wallet(s) to Export

• Select the wallet you want to export by checking the box next to its name, then click Next. If you have multiple wallets selected, their passwords will be combined into a single CSV file.

 

5. Unlock the Wallet

• Enter your master password to unlock the selected wallet, then click Add Wallet.

 

6. Wait for Export to Complete

• The tool will collect data from the selected wallets, and a progress bar will show the export status. When complete, a summary of your exported accounts will appear. Click Save your data.

 

7. Save the CSV File

• Choose a name and location for the CSV file (such as your Desktop) to make it easy to find. Bitdefender will export your saved login data to this file.

You’re now ready to import this CSV file into Bitdefender SecurePass.

Now that you have exported your data from Wallet, the next step is to import this CSV file into SecurePass.

 

1. Open SecurePass Settings

• Go to https://securepass.bitdefender.com/ or open the Bitdefender SecurePass browser extension.
• Click on Settings in the top right corner.

 

2. Choose Import Option

• In the Backup & Restore section, click on Import passwords to open the import window.

 

3. Set the File Type to Bitdefender Wallet

• In the import window, click on Select file type and choose Bitdefender Wallet in the list.

 

4. Import Bitdefender Wallet

• Click on Filename.ext, navigate to the folder where you saved the CSV file, select it, and click Open.
• After choosing the file, click Import to begin the transfer. A progress indicator will show the import status.
• Once the import is complete, a message will confirm that it was successful.

 

5. Access Imported Data

• Go to your SecurePass vault.
• You will see a folder named Import, labeled with the import date. This folder contains all your data from Bitdefender Wallet.

Your passwords are now safely stored in Bitdefender SecurePass.

Once your data is in SecurePass, it’s important to delete the CSV file from your computer to prevent unauthorized access, as the file contains all your passwords in plaintext.

 

1. Use File Shredder

• Go to the folder where you saved the CSV file (e.g. Desktop).
• Right-click on the CSV file, point to Bitdefender, and select File Shredder from the menu.

 

2. Delete Permanently

• In the File Shredder window, click Delete permanently.
• Confirm by selecting Yes, delete to start the shredding process.
• Once the file has been securely deleted, click Finish to close the File Shredder window.
