Google Chrome has a built-in password manager that offers to save your passwords for websites. If you use a third-party password manager like Bitdefender SecurePass or don’t want Google Chrome storing your passwords, you can turn off this feature.
Follow these steps to stop Chrome’s password-saving prompts on your Windows or Mac computer.
Step 1: Open Google Password Manager
- Open Google Chrome on your computer.
- Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- From the dropdown menu select Autofill and passwords, then click on Google Password Manager.
Step 2: Disable “Offer to save passwords and passkeys”
- In the Google Password Manager menu, click on Settings on the left sidebar.
- Turn off the option Offer to save passwords and passkeys to disable Google Password Manager.
- Close the Google Password Manager tab. Chrome will automatically save your changes.
- If you can’t find the “Offer to save passwords and passkeys” option, go to chrome://password-manager/settings in the address bar.
After making these changes, Google Chrome will no longer ask to save your passwords. You can now use your preferred password manager without interference.
