Mozilla Firefox has a built-in password manager that saves and autofills your login credentials. If you use a third-party password manager like Bitdefender SecurePass or don’t want Mozilla Firefox storing your passwords, you can turn off this feature.
Follow these steps to stop Firefox’s password-saving prompts on your Windows or Mac computer.
Step 1: Open Firefox Settings
- Launch Mozilla Firefox on your computer.
- Click the menu button (☰) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Select Settings.
Step 2: Access the Passwords Section
- In the left-hand menu, click on Privacy & Security.
- Then scroll down to the Passwords section on the right.
- If you can’t find the “Privacy & Security” entry, go to about:preferences#privacy in the address bar.
Step 3: Disable Firefox Password Manager
- In the Passwords section, uncheck the box labeled Ask to save passwords.
- Scroll down to the Autofill section and uncheck the box labeled Save and fill payment methods.
- Close the Settings tab. Firefox will automatically save your modifications.
After making these changes, Mozilla Firefox will no longer ask to save your passwords. You can now use your preferred password manager without interference.
