How to check if you’re logged into Windows with an administrator account

In this article, we will show you how to check if you’re logged in to your computer with a Windows administrator account. Depending on your version of Windows, follow the instructions presented below.

On Windows 10 & Windows 11

1. Click the Windows   Start menu.
2. Type Control Panel in the search box, then select Control Panel in the search results.
   
3. In Control Panel, open User Accounts.
4. Click on Manage User Accounts.
5. All user accounts will be listed on the page. Each account is part of a group (Administrator, Standard, etc.).
6. Before installing Bitdefender on a PC make sure that you are logged into an account listed in the Administrator group.

On Windows 8 & Windows 8.1

1. Right-click on the Windows   logo located in the bottom left corner of your screen.
2. Click on Control Panel.
3. Open User Accounts.
4. Click on Change account type or Manage another account.
5. All user accounts will be listed on the page. Each account has a status assigned (Administrator, Standard, etc).
6. Before installing Bitdefender on a PC make sure that you are logged into an account with the status Administrator.

On Windows 7

1. Click the Windows  Start button and click on Control Panel.
