The virus has the ability to record keystrokes from infected computer and to act as a backdoor

BitDefender, an award-winning provider of security software and services, today released a free removal tool against the virus Fizzer (Win32.Fizzer.A@mm), an executable mass-mailer, also qualified as a file-infector. The virus has the ability to record keystrokes from infected computer and to act as a backdoor, sending data through IRC channels.

The virus uses the e-mail and the KaZaA file-sharing network in order to spread and mIRC and AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) to issue commands on the victim's computer. These actions qualified it as a potential danger for computer users, so they called for the immediate release of a free, dedicated antivirus tool to cure the infected systems, Patrick Vicol, Virus Researcher at BitDefender stated. Still, for permanent protection against this kind of threats, we recommend the use of permanent, memory-resident antivirus software. As a physician would say, it is always easier to prevent than to treat, Patrick concluded.

The free removal tool is available in three international languages (English, Spanish and German) on the BitDefender websites.
