Almost 110 million Americans have been exposed to data theft in the last 12 months, CNNMoney and Ponemon Institute researchers report. Up to 432 million user accounts have been breached, according to the information recorded by the Identity Theft Resource Center and CNNMoney’s overview of the security incidents made public last year.

The analysis suggests breaches have become so frequent that users should expect an attack every month. “It’s becoming more acute,” said Larry Ponemon, Head of the Ponemon Institute. “If you’re not a data breach victim, you’re not paying attention.”
