Team GhostShell, an underground hacking enterprise allegedly connected to Anonymous, posted an online announcement claiming possession of sensitive data belonging to a list of organizations including the CIA, MIT, and Wall Street businesses, as reported by TechEYE.net.
The group justifies its operation, Project HellFire, as a “final form of protest this summer against the banks, politicians and for all the fallen hackers this year”Â. MidasBank and OphiusLab are quoted as close collaborators in the hacking spree claimed to have resulted in “one million accounts/records leaked”. Team GhostShell plans “Å“more releases, collaborations with Anonymous and other, plus two more projects are still scheduled for this fall and winter”. “It’s only the beginning,” warns the group leader, who signs as DeadMellox. DeadMellox promises to provide access-points to those willing and able to keep the cyber-raiding going. Potential Team GhostShell supporters would thus be able to get their hands on “six billion databases from a Chinese mainframe full of Chinese & Japanese technology”Â, “over 105 billion databases to a US stock exchange mainframe/s” and “3-4 different servers belonging to the Department of Homeland Security”Â.
