Team GhostShell Hackers Leak 1.6 Million Accounts from US Federal Agencies, Interpol

Hacktivist group Team GhostShell claims to have leaked more than 1.6 million accounts belonging to federal institutions such as the FBI, NASA, the Pentagon, and Interpol.

The data was dumped in a PasteBin post entitled #ProjectWhiteFox – Freedom of Information. Promising more attacks by the end of the year, Team GhostShell says its agenda is to fight for freedom of information on the internet.

“#ProjectWhiteFox will conclude this year’s series of attacks by promoting hacktivism worldwide and drawing attention to the freedom of information on the net,” said Team GhostShell in the Pastebin post. “For those two factors we have prepared a juicy release of 1.6 million accounts/records from fields such as aerospace, nanotechnology, banking, law, education, government, military, all kinds of wacky companies & corporations working for the department of defense, airlines and more.”

Although there`s no indication that Team GhostShell is connected to Anonymous, they claim to be fighting for the same cause as they reference #OpWCIT (Operation World Conference on International Telecommunications) and claim to adhere to hacktivism.

In late August the hacker group also released one million account records belonging to the CIA, MIT, and Wall Street businesses as part of Project HellFire. At the time, they promised that “two more projects are still scheduled for this fall and winter”. It remains to be seen if they`ll stay on schedule and release a third leak by the end of the year.
