Leading dental and medical billing provider Medusind recently disclosed a cybersecurity incident impacting the personal data of 360,000 individuals.
The company suffered a security breach in December 2023. During the attack, perpetrators stole personal and health information from the Miami-based company’s systems.
While Medusind only manages 12 locations in the United States and India, more than 6,000 healthcare providers rely on the company’s revenue cycle management services to maximize revenue and optimize operating costs.
In a data breach notification letter filed with the Office of Maine’s Attorney General, the company said it identified the intrusion on Dec. 29, 2023, after investigating suspicious activity on its network.
“On December 29, 2023, Medusind discovered suspicious activity within its IT network,” reads Medusind’s letter. “Upon discovering the suspicious activity, Medusind took the affected systems offline and hired a leading cybersecurity forensic firm to conduct an investigation.”

Medusind is offering affected parties two years of complimentary identity monitoring services, including credit monitoring, identity theft restoration and fraud consultation.
