Hacker leaks records of 20 million users of AI visual creation platform online

Cutout.Pro , the popular AI-powered photo editing and visual content generation platform, has suffered a massive data breach that compromised the personal information of nearly 20 million users.

Unauthorized access to Cutout.Pro’s userbase data was disclosed last week on the all-too-familiar BreachForums by a threat actor using the handle 'KryptonZambie.'

The perp boasts of his team’s most recent ‘capture’ and claims that, as of Feb. 27, they still have access to the compromised system of Cutout.Pro.

The threat actor shared a link to CSV files containing 5.93 GB of stolen data, including email addresses, IP addresses, names, and hashed and salted passwords.

The threat actor also maximized the reach of the stolen database by distributing the records on multiple Telegram channels.

While Cutout.Pro has not officially acknowledged the breach, investigators at Bleeping Computer and cybersecurity researcher Troy Hunt, founder of Have I Been Pwned (HIBP), confirmed the validity of the leaked user data after having “independently verified multiple matches from the leaked email addresses and confirming that password reset requests went through.”

Past and current users of the AI photo and video editing platform are advised to watch out for suspicious activity and phishing attempts that may lead to further compromise.

Most importantly, users should ensure the security of their online accounts and data by resetting the password on Cutout.Pro and any other platform where they might have reused the same compromised credentials, and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.
