The operators behind underground carding store BidenCash are making a bold marketing move aiming to increase sales on their recently launched marketplace. The dark web marketplace is offering an impressive free sampling of data, with over 1.2 million credit cards and associated information now up for grabs.
The promotion was announced last week and, according to its distributors, the data dump contains no less than 1,221,551 credit cards and other linked personally identifiable information (PII), including:
Bleeping Computer notes that most analyzed entries contain over 70% of the data types and that many of the entries “were recycled from previous collections, like the one 'All World Cards' gave away for free last year.” Even so, the extensive list of PII and financial data puts impacted consumers at risk of financial fraud and other identity crimes.
To protect against credit card fraud, consumers should start prioritizing their digital safety and work on enhancing their vigilance. Monitor and review credit card statements regularly, and exercise caution when using credit cards in ATMs that look like they could have been tampered with.
Check credit reports and immediately report any lost or stolen credit cards, while making sure to never give out credit info via unsolicited emails or phone calls. To be on the safe side, only used trusted websites when shopping online and install a security solution to protect against phishing and malicious software that could be used to financially compromise you.
