Introducing the Identity Protection Score; why you should care about the health of the digital YOU

With an estimated 20 data breaches taking place every day, consumers are often overwhelmed and confused about what safety measures to take or how an incident can affect their privacy and identity.

Here’s where Identity Protection Score, the new feature of our Digital Identity Protection service, comes into play. It gives you a practical, trouble-free way to understand how a data breach can affect you, and what actions you need to take to protect yourself after a breach.

The Score is a number calculated based on the analysis of your data breach exposure, including the number of data breaches you’re linked to and the type of information compromised. It helps you get a 360-degree view of your online identity.

The larger the score, the lower your risks of new data breaches and attacks on your identity. Users who haven’t been exposed in a breach, won’t have a score visible in their Bitdefender Central account.

Next to your Identity Protection Score you’ll be able to visualize your personalized risk map that helps you make sense of all breach events linked to you. You can easily assess the potential impact of a data breach and make the best corrective actions.

For example, if your personalized risk map is in the green, it means you don’t need to take any additional actions -- just remain vigilant, as you should always do online.

Moderate risks are tagged in orange and pink. If your risk levels are in this section, it means that you do need to check all security events, while critical risks (in the pink and red sections) mean that you should immediately change passwords and monitor for any signs of identity theft.

Additionally, the data breach section provides further insights into how you can safeguard your identity, and improve your privacy and Score.
