Anti-spam software passes August test with zero false positives, detection rate of 99.91 percent, and the highest final score
Today BitDefender®, an award-winning provider of innovative internet security solutions, announced that BitDefender Security for Mail Servers passed the Virus Bulletin Spam (VBSpam) test for the ninth consecutive time, making it the only security software company in the world to have achieved this milestone.
The test acknowledges BitDefender Security for Mail Servers comprehensive protection from spam threats. Over an eight day period, Virus Bulletin relayed both spam and legitimate messages in real time then analyzed spam catch rates for image and large spam, as well as false positives. BitDefender recorded zero percent false positives, a detection rate of 99.91 percent and earned the highest final score based on Virus Bulletin’s formula.
"I like it when developers have confidence in their product, and BitDefender's developers demonstrated plenty of confidence when they were among the first to submit their product to the VBSpam tests in the early days,” said Martijn Grooten, Anti-spam Test Director at Virus Bulletin. “Despite this, they have never stopped trying to find ways to improve the product and have always been eager to hear feedback on its performance. BitDefender is the only product to have won a VBSpam award in every single VBSpam test - and with one of the highest catch rates in this test, and no false positives, it outperforms all other products and achieves the highest final score this month."
“At BitDefender we’re constantly working to ensure our customers have the best spam-fighting technology in the industry,” said Carmen Mitrica, Head of Antispam Lab at BitDefender. “We’re thrilled to see our technology innovation and security research pay-off with success in a very challenging series of VBSpam tests. The consistency with which we’ve been able to achieve high marks verifies BitDefender’s potency when it comes to blocking spam and demonstrates how we continue to define the standard for spam protection.”
