Speed test shows unsurprising results

The week's surprise has come in the form of an unremarkable virus that can't spell: Bagle (or Bbgle).

It seems that there was something it did right, since it has received "elevated threat" status from most AV software vendors. What it did not acquire so readily was, well, a fingerprinting, like all villains should.

It seems BitDefender specialists were (again) the first, by a long shot, to release a signature for this virus. According to PC World - the German edition, aka PC Welt, BitDefender was the first antivirus producer to protect users specifically against this threat almost one hour before anyone else. US virus researchers were presumably still trying to asess damage already done to the networks they protect, before declaring it to be "low".
