Bitdefender Wins ‘Outstanding Product of 2023’ at AV-Comparatives – Over a Decade of Domination

Bitdefender is proud to announce the extension of more than a decade of testing victories, with a seamless series of top rankings in 2023 trials by renowned antivirus analysis lab AV-Comparatives.

Each year, the independent Austria-based antivirus tester assesses the efficacy and reliability of security solutions available to the general public.

While consumers generally know what they want from a security solution, it’s not always easy to choose from the expanding array of offerings from a wide variety of vendors.

AV-Comparatives avoids criteria that could be considered subjective, based on preference or taste. Instead, the lab subjects security products to rigorous investigation squarely on what matters most – the ability to protect against real-world Internet threats, identify completely new malware, defend against advanced targeted attacks, and provide protection without slowing down the PC.

Advanced+ Award in all tests

In 2023, AV-Comparatives trialed 16 consumer security products based on the above criteria.

“Whilst all of the programs in our test reached an acceptable level overall, some programs outperformed others,” the lab said.

Year after year, independent testers consistently rank Bitdefender solutions high. In 2022, AV-Comp awarded Bitdefender the coveted Product of the Year award for the fifth time – more than any other vendor in the past decade.

The lab has now awarded Bitdefender the Outstanding Product of 2023, granting the highest Advanced+ Award in all tests. This is our fifth such award from the Austrian lab, adding to the five Product of the Year awards we already have under our belt – marking more than 10 years in AV-Comp’s top ratings.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze!

The product scrutinized in the latest tests, Bitdefender Internet Security, took the Gold Award for the Advanced Threat Protection Test, a Silver Award for the Real-World Protection Test, and a Bronze Award for the Malware Protection Test.

At Bitdefender, we put considerable time and resources into creating a straightforward experience for the end user. AV-Comp’s testers were particularly pleased with our “well-designed user interface,” which offers a customizable home page that many netizens find seamlessly intuitive and reliable. Unlike other software tools, security products should ideally offer a set-and-forget experience. After all, who wants to tinker with their antivirus every day?

You may ask why, if our rankings are just as good as last year’s, we didn’t nab the Product of the Year award again. While Bitdefender received the highest Advanced+ Award in all tests, it’s worth noting that AV-Comparatives doesn’t award the Product of the Year Award twice in a row – if in the second year another product receives the same award levels.

Bitdefender has again achieved the highest ratings in real-life attack scenarios, having officially surpassed more than 10 years of stellar protection in AV-Comp’s tests.
