Charlie Hebdo Web site hacked

Charlie Hebdo’s offices in the 20th arrondissement in Paris have been firebombed after the name of the latest edition was changed to “Charia Hebdo” and the name of Prophet Mohamed was used to sign the editorial. The magazine motivated its decision and the content of the current number by the recent victory of the Islamist Ennadha party in Tunisian elections and the possible adoption of Sharia Islamic law in post-Gaddafi Libya.

The Web site of the satirical magazine was also attacked and continues to be unavailable as of this afternoon. According to a content sharing platform, the responsible for the attack, who signs as Cyber Warrior, considers that the magazine editors “keep abusing, Islam’s almighty Prophet with disgusting and disgraceful cartoons using excuses of freedom of speech”, as depicted in the screenshot below. The bilingual text ” in English and Turkish ” emphasizes that the hacker(s) will act as a “Curse on Cyber World”.
