Information on unreleased TV shows, scripts, and materials belonging to kids’ television channel Nickelodeon may have been compromised in a recent data leak.
While the renowned children’s entertainment network has yet to confirm or deny the rumors, a Twitter user under the handle GhostyTongue has been disclosing sensitive information regarding the alleged compromise since June 29.
GhostyTongue says the leak stemmed from an authentication issue within Nickelodeon’s “consumer products and experience” portal that may have let unauthorized parties access sensitive data from the TV channel’s animation department.
Since the announcement on Twitter, the user allegedly received hundreds of DMs asking for snippets or videos from upcoming movie sequels and older animations.
GhostyTongue also disclosed details on the individuals responsible for hijacking Nickelodeon data. The Twitter user said that two people, using the Discord handles “BowDown” and “IncidentalSeventy,” have already faced legal action for their crime, and he is urging people to stop leaking Nickelodeon proprietary information online.
“As a reminder to people leaking any upcoming #Nickelodeon stuff, Nickelodeon has eyes they already and is taking action on leak reuploaders like the loud house and casegrande movie! Please stop reposting,” GhostyTongue tweeted.
Various discord channels and other private online communities have since allegedly been sharing stolen Nickelodeon files and videos, including content from the hit series SpongeBob. More recently, the Nickelodeon leak is said to also contain source code from the TV channel’s flash games.
“It looks like #NickelodeonGigaLeak does not have a break recently in a private discord server Aurl to a download archive of an entirely new leak of all of #Nickelodeon Flash Game Source Code being leaked out to the world and the URL is making rounds on other #Discord Servers,” GhostyTongue said.
