ISIS hackers are targeting US government websites and leaving disturbing messages for US President Donald Trump, CNN writes.
Once hacked, the websites display an Arabic logo and confirmation that the attack was carried out by hacker group “Team System DZ”.
“You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing in Muslim countries,” reads the message, signed “I love the Islamic state.”
The website of the Department of Health for the state of Washington is the latest victim, confirmed spokesperson David Johnson. Victims include the official website of Brookhaven, New York, the Howard County, Maryland, government website, and websites of Ohio Governor John Kasich and his wife, and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
“There was no breach of data and no personal information was compromised,” reads a statement from Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman. “Howard County government is working with law enforcement agencies and an investigation is underway. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
“All affected servers have been taken offline and we are investigating how these hackers were able to deface these websites,” said Tom Hoyt, chief communications officer for Ohio’s Department of Administrative Services. “We also are working with law enforcement to better understand what happened.”
Team System DZ has assumed responsibility for past attacks in Wisconsin, Scotland and Sweden. The group is allegedly based in Algeria, according to Cryptosphere, a website that tracks hackers, and is responsible for attacking other websites including that of a synagogue in Florida and a student union at a university in Canada.
The FBI is investigating the hacks.
