French fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire has apparently fallen victim to hackers, who obtained 587,000 unique email addresses in the process, according to a data breach listing posted on a hacking forum earlier this month.
A threat actor using the handle “Tanaka” said the information was looted from the fashion house in November 2023. Among the 638,726 exposed customer records, the hacker says the breached information includes customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, shopping addresses, date of birth and gender.
Zadig & Voltaire has yet to comment publicly on the authenticity of the data or provide details about how attackers could have gotten their hands on customer information. In a short statement, the company said it is investigating the breach and taking steps to ensure that a similar incident doesn’t happen again.
This most recent breach further underscores the importance of robust security measures in the retail sector and consumer awareness and vigilance on protecting their personal information.
1. Change the password for your Zadig & Voltaire e-commerce account. Even if the breached records don’t mention stolen passwords, it’s best to be proactive and secure all accounts that share the same login credentials.
2. Be on alert for any unsolicited correspondence. Hackers can use contact information to target you with phishing emails, phone calls or texts. Be especially wary of any messages that appear to come from Zadig & Voltaire.
3. Look for any official communication from the brand for updates on the security incident, breach and support
4. Subscribe to a digital identity protection service for comprehensive monitoring, data breach alerts and peace of mind
