Bitdefender Wins 1st Place in VB Spam Testing

Bitdefender, a leading global cybersecurity company protecting over 500 million systems worldwide, is pleased to announce yet another victory in independent testing, winning the top score in the September VB Spam testing by Virus Bulletin.

The top ranking earned Bitdefender its 24th straight VB Spam+ award, the highest level of certification granted by Virus Bulletin, beating the previous record for consecutive awards, which was also held by Bitdefender.

Bitdefender Security for Mail Servers 3.1.7 scored a spam catch rate of 99.88% with 0 false positives in September testing, handily beating all other participants in the testing and even improving slightly on its previous score of 99.76%.

“Bitdefender has scored extremely highly in these tests since Virus Bulletin began running them in 2009,” said Jose Lopez, Bitdefender’s VP of Global Sales, Technology Licensing and Service Providers. “After such a long history of successes, the challenge that matters most to us is beating our own past performance. And, in September, we achieved that again.”

According to a Bitdefender survey, phishing is one of the most challenging threats, with 25% of respondents mentioning it as one of the top three cyber-threats they have faced over the last few years.

Therefore, Bitdefender’s efficient antispam technologies give the company’s technology licensing partners and customers a crucial tool to prevent targeted attacks and focus on re-inventing and adapting their business models to the new world.

The public September tests by Virus Bulletin, a world leader in analysis of security software, included six full email security solutions, one custom configured solution and four blacklists of various kinds. The latest tests, besides judging the effectiveness of the product against spam, focused on emails that, through attachments or URLs, lead directly to a malicious action.
