Setting permissions in iOS devices
iOS app permissions are designed to protect users' privacy and security by controlling what an app can access and do on a device.
The Mobile Security console enables administrators to identify missing endpoint permissions, thereby enhancing the security posture.
Note
The Privacy Summary feature can inform the end user of permission requirements and provide increased visibility into the collected data. The feature can be enabled via the Manage section in the Mobile Security console.
The permission requests depend on the policy configuration in the Control Center and the type of activation chosen. Users receive permission requests for various features, including:
Camera access - If during activation, you select to activate the app with a QR code, the app requests camera access.
Local network permission - To protect the device against sophisticated Wi-Fi based network attacks, the GravityZone MTD needs to have permission to access the local network. This helps prevent attacks from harming your device and accessing private data.
Notification permission - Administrators can set notifications to automatically alert users. This happens in response to certain threats or other activities.
Location access - When a security event occurs, the GravityZone MTD gathers forensic information. Part of this information includes the location of the device when the event occurred.
VPN permissions - depending on the policy configuration in the GravityZone Control Center and the type of activation chosen. An administrator has the option to configure the mobile app to set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) in response to threats. If this is requested, then during the installation of the mobile app, a VPN profile is installed and can be seen in the Settings app of the iOS device.
Note
The GravityZone MTD can be configured to set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) in response to threats. If this is requested, then during the installation of the app, a VPN profile is installed and can be seen in the Settings app of the iOS device.
These permission requests help to protect the device from malware and network attacks.
